heyrow asked: Film questions! 8, 9, 15, 17, 21, 22, 36. :)

Hi Hyro! Thanks for the Qs. :)

8. An overrated movie - I honestly think that the Saw series has garnered way more attention than it deserved. Ditto to The Social Network, which I thought got way too much attention from people just because it was about Facebook. I don’t think half the people I talked to about it actually saw the movie.

9. An underrated movie - I honestly think that The Bridges of Madison County is underrated as a movie and as a love story. It’s one of Clint Eastwood’s best works—acting and directing-wise—and it’s very authentic. Also, to me, Meryl Streep’s performance here was one of the best of the decade.

15. Favorite Disney movie (not PIXAR!) - Mulan. I have a soft spot for Mulan, because I can relate to her, and because until recently, she was the only Disney ‘princess’ who had her own mind and who could kick ass.

17. A movie that you know its bad but you can’t help but love it - I know that Mamma Mia! is not the hallmark of musicals or of filmmaking, but I will watch it a million times and defend it to the death. I’ll sing along too. :))

21. First adult film you watched (thematically speaking not R-rated) - This has to be the original Star Wars trilogy. We rented VHS copies of that and watched it for three consecutive Saturdays. Then we saw Pierce Brosnan’s 007 movies, with our parents covering our eyes during the sexytime parts, of course.

22. A kids movie you always watch - Finding Nemo and Toy Story. I’m a sucker for these two movies, and I watch them on Disney Channel whenever they have it on.

36. Favorite remake - I have to say it’s The Manchurian Candidate. I thought it was a wonderful update on the original, and it got the room for scenes and characterizations that we didn’t see in the original ’60s movie. I thought that Denzel Washington had more of the grit that I wished we saw in Frank Sinatra, and that Liev Schreiber had been perfectly cast as Laurence Harvey’s character, because he was able to get into the same wavelength that Harvey was on.
